As of recent..we have been hearing a lot of talk of the Clintons. They have been invading the space of the airways with what they want, how they want it, and who they want it from.
I've shared my feelings over and over again about this so I won't repeat anything you've already read.
I am going to make some points though.
+1. Recently..and repeatedly, Bill Clinton has said that he wants to regain the positive "legacy" , and Clinton supporters have said that Obama needs to acknowledge and respect the "Clinton Wing Of The Party."
Let's take a trip down memory lane. I wasn't into politics but I did support Bill Clinton in his presidency. But one thing, taking what's given to you as a black American, in oppose to getting/demanding what you need..are 2 different things. Only thing I remember Bill doing for blacks was apologizing for Tuskegee. At the time I thought it was the greatest thing for a president to acknowledge the country's flaws and take responsibility enough to apologize. That was an example of me accepting what was giving too me..and not expecting more since more had never been given.
Times have changed..unfortunately I wasn't alive to accept the things given by the Kennedy's. Thru this election, I have learned a lot and now I know that I can expect to get the things I need as a black American. President Clinton has no "legacy." He was not a great president. Obama doesn't owe him nothing and he isn't giving Obama anything that Obama hasn't gotten on his own. Bill Clinton got his dick sucked in the oval office by an ugly intern (no offense Monica), he cheated on his wife thru out his presidency and as acting Governor in Arkansas. He hangs out with Bush senior. I don't see anything respectable, admirable or inspirational about any of those things. That does not equal legacy. So Clinton= Legacy...debunked.
+2. The Kennedy family...the whole family of brothers..FOUGHT for civil rights as if they were fighting for their own rights. John F Kennedy died as a cost to MY rights to be considered a human being and to be treated fairly and equally. I don't mean the words fairly and equally as a gimmick, I mean I can now demand that I get allowed into a college based on my merit..not denied based on my skin color. I can now sit anywhere at anytime as an American..not a "colored American" and Not in a specific section at a certain time. I can now vote (the whole reason any democratic president has ever won any election..and Bill Clinton has JFK to thank for that as well). There would be a lot to list but because of JFK, a lot of things were DONE and not just SAID. After his death, his brother Bobby felt it important to carry out his intentions for the country. His brother also stood his ground for equality for blacks and lost his life as a result. Today Ted Kennedy has passed the torch to Senator Obama to carry on the Kennedy legacy because Obama is a do'er and not just a speaker. Ted never passed anything down to Bill Clinton. Ever. It was people like the Kennedy's and Jimmy Carter..who actually dedicate their lives to the rights of others. In our country, as well as, overseas. This is what makes someone a "legacy'. The Kennedy's, Jimmy Carter, and now Barack Obama..all living legacies.
Bill Clinton needs to read this blog and understand..that the have done nothing to claim "legacy."
And to think all this time..the civil rights movement was over. The rights I get now..are the ones I have to accept and hold on too, and be satisfied with.
The movement is far from over and me and you don't have to accept shit from anyone.
Thank God for the Kennedy's
ps: now all we have too do is get Maria Shriver to leave Ahhhnold
