Top Clinton Backers Tell Donors: Stop Whining

Top Clinton Backers Tell Donors: Stop Whining

In a sign that senior Democratic officials remain deeply concerned that post-primary bitterness could imperil Barack Obama's chances, two top Democratic officials have emailed a sharply-worded letter to major donors and other leading Dems confessing "fatigue and irritation" at those withholding full support from Obama and demanding that they get behind him "without conditions or demands."

"I supported Hillary Clinton and am proud and pleased that I did," reads the email, which was written by Donald Fowler, a former DNC chair and DNC member-at-large who was one of Hillary's most prominent supporters. Alice Germond, the Secretary of the DNC, is also a signatory.

"But she lost," continues the email, which was sent our way by a source. Barack Obama won. It's over."

I thought it significant when the primary was still undeclared. Hillary supporters were said to be less educated, etc...and it was reported that the majority said if she lost the primary they (most) would not support Senator Obama. Now, since she's lost the primary, there are those that supported her, saying they will vote for Mc Cain. How bizarre is that? It reminds me of kids arguing, and one getting angry...gets up and takes his toys and goes home

Senator Obama's supporters, on the other hand, were said to be better educated, yet, stated that if Senator Clinton won the primary, they would, indeed, support her.

I've been around the political process a long time...and I can tell you there has never (in decades) been this level of interest in ANY election. To electrify the young people like this, and light a 'fire' under the butts of those that, in the past, we content to sit still...plus the 'ground swell' of anticipation...this is bigger than only Senator Obama's personality (as great as that is). It's what the Senator stands for...REAL CHANGE! You can "feel" it when he speaks, you can "see" it in the faces of those in the crowds he speaks to.

I've said before on another of your posts...it reminds me of the late 60's-70's...this depth of desire to see REAL...positive change...not for just a few, but for all is incredibly exciting. It's so close and it's within our grasp. This is the time for pulling together...not squabbling over petty differences. OBAMA 2008
